"Slow & Steady Goes the Turtle" is inspired by an ornate box turtle. These creatures live in sand prairies in Northern and Central Illinois but are rare sightings in Illinois. They are currently a threatened species in our state.
This hand carved happy little turtle is proud to share with you that it is okay to take things slow. Each day can be a challenge, but taking one thing on at a time is a great way to move through it all with mindfulness and allow for the peacefulness of natural surroundings to fill you up, making the entire journey easier. It's a normal everyday effort for the turtle to go slow, but harder for us! Let this turtle bring a little smile to your home and inspiration to your own journey.
Printed on white thick cotton paper with from letterpress wood type and from a hand carved Shina wood block sourced from a sustainable forest in Hokkaido, Japan. For the turtle image, a reduction process was used to create five layers from one wood block with tan, yellow, orange, green and brown inks. Hand set wood type was printed with a blue green ink. Artist signature, edition number, and year of production appear on front of each print. No title is written since the words are in the print.
